Exemptions from Visa Fees to Egypt
Egyptian visa fees do not apply to the following:
Some people, due to their occupations, relations, or citizenships are exempted to pay for the costs of visas to Egypt
These include
-People in possession of diplomatic passports
-Officials and employees of some special international organizations, agencies, or delegates to international conferences organized in Egypt
-Officials of the Arab League
-Non Egyptian spouses of Egyptian citizens
-Non Egyptian members of religious organizations,
-Non-national members of the clergy, important scientists, journalists and members of official cultural, educational and sports delegations.
-Non Egyptian students studying in Egyptian educational institutions
-Non diplomatic employees of diplomatic and consular missions operating in Egypt
-Parents, siblings, or children of the employees of diplomatic and consular missions operating in Egypt
-Some citizens of a number of countries are granted with reduced fees for an entry visa to Egypt. These countries include: Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Russia and the United States
Visa Exemptions
Some citizens are exempted from obtaining visas to Egypt and these include:
-Citizens of Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates.
-Citizens that hold diplomatic passports of Argentina, Bosnia Herzegovina, Italy, Malaysia, Malta, Singapore, the Slovak Republic and Turkey.
-Non Egyptians living in Egypt
Egypt gives some foreign citizens the right to residence in the country for a certain period of time. This includes two cases:
-In ordinary cases, the residence period is granted for a period that ranges from 3 to 5 years
-In special cases: this special residence permit is granted to non Egyptians being born in Egypt before 26/5/1952, or those who stayed in the country for a period of 20 years or more after 26/5/1952, it is also granted to the wives and children of these citizens. This residence permit is usually granted for a period of 10 years.
Resident permissions
Non Egyptians are granted a temporary residence permit that is renewable if they fall into the following categories
1-Non Egyptian husbands of Egyptians
2-Minor children have the right to special or ordinary residence permits and they fall in the same category as their fathers
3-Adult children whose father has the right to have a special, ordinary, or three years residence permits, under the conditions that they have a proved source of income
4-The non Egyptian citizens that officially employed by governmental or public institutes, public sector companies, and public business companies
5-Palestinian citizens officially employed by the Department for the Governor General of Gaza and employees who retired from the same institute
6-Palestinian citizens who have official travel documents issued only by the Egyptian authorities on the condition that they have spent a period of 10 years as residents of Egypt
7-Non Egyptians receiving pensions from a national authority on monthly basis
8-Non Egyptians who owns homes for elderly and disabled
9- Refugees for political reasons
10-Refugees registered at the UN Higher Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
11-Spouses of non Egyptians who have the right for special or ordinary residence permit
12-Egyptian spouses who left their original nationality after getting married to non Egyptians
13-Children and spouses of non Egyptians that are exempted from resident permissions
14-Non Egyptians who have given up their rights for special or ordinary residence permits for any reasons
15-Non Egyptians who are officially employed by the Swiss Institute for Architectural and Archeological Research in Egypt
16-Non Egyptian who have the right to obtain 3 years residence permission according to any international conventions or agreements
17- Any person who has gained the consent of the ministry of interior for a 3 years residence permit
18-Children and spouses of a non Egyptians who have the right to obtain 3 years resident permit for any of the mentioned above reasons
Five-Year Residence permission
Non Egyptians are granted a temporary residence permit for five years that is renewable if they fall into the following categories
1- Foreigners investing money in Egypt
2- Egyptians and their minor children who have waived their nationality of origin due to obtain a foreign citizenship
3- Children
A- of an Egyptian mother
B- of a father who has obtained an Egyptian nationality
C- Adult children whose mother has the right for special or ordinary resident permit for five years in the case of the death of the father
4- Non Egyptians who are 60 year old or more and has been living in Egypt for 10 years or more, under the condition that they have a source of income
5- Non Egyptians who have the right to obtain a five years resident permit according to international convections and agreements
6- Widows and spouse who were of Egyptians
7- Spouses of non Egyptians who have the right to obtain an ordinary resident permit
8- The children and spouses of non Egyptians who have the right to obtain a resident permit for five years under any of the previously mentioned cases
Special visas and passports services
Non Egyptians who reach any Egyptian seaports are permitted to visit the port where they arrived for a period of 24 hours and go on with their trip using the same ship afterwards. Moreover, in same cases, they are also eligible to obtain a permit to enter Egypt for a period that is not more than 3 days before they catch their ship at the port which they have arrived to or at any other Egyptian port
Air transit guests passing by Egypt are granted with a 24 hours permit to enter Egypt. In cases of emergency, they are entitled to obtain
A 24 hours permit in the case of bad weather conditions
A 48 hours permit in the case of technical problems in the airplane |
