This is a place
with a very special, luxurious sense of the primitive,
surrounded by the kind of magic that only ancient
tribes, majestic mountains and ruthless desert climates
can conjure.
“Most of the mainly organic food is grown in the grounds
or sourced locally, so vegetables and fruit are bursting
with flavor. Lunch is served by the pool. Dinner is
somewhere different every day – one night we dined at
the lone table in a grotto studded with salt crystals
and candles.”-
Rooms:
Desert Rooms
“The only sight in the silent darkness of Egypt’s
Western Desert is that of a hundred hurricane lamps,
lined up in the sand like a constellation of stars
leading to our room.”
W. Geordie Greig,
“Nomad’s Land, Tatler Magazine, April 2007
Each one of our hand-built 40 rooms is unique, combining
distinction and authenticity. Earth buildings blend
naturally into the landscape. All the furniture and
crafts pay tribute to nature and to talented local
artisanship.
With no electricity, the rooms are softly lit with a
dozen beeswax candles and the starry desert sky.
